My Sister's House

My Sister's House, Inc., is a nonprofit organization founded in 1980 that provides services, programs and resources to empower domestic violence victims and their children to live free from abuse. The organization operates an emergency temporary shelter at an undisclosed location for up to 36 women and children who flee abusive situations in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties in South Carolina. Other resources and services include:

24-hour crisis line
Food, clothing, transportation and help with purchasing medication
Children's program
Counseling and therapeutic assessments
Field trips
Music, art and pet therapy
Community-based support groups
Police in-service training in dealing with abuse victims
Court advocacy
Volunteer program
Community education
